Update Regarding Flash Animations on DeviantArt
In 2017, Adobe announced that their long-time animation program, Adobe Flash, would reach its end of life as a program at the conclusion of 2020, after over 20 years of prominence on the internet. Along with it, support for the animation viewer Flash Player was discontinued, and at this point modern web browsers have blocked the Flash plugin from running, as it is out of date. While the circumstances of Flash reaching its end of life are out of our control, it goes without saying that Flash animations were a significant part of DeviantArt’s past. Viral sensations like Line Rider and Animator vs. Animation were highlights of the internet as a whole during the early to mid-2000s. The impact Flash animation had — especially in the early years of its existence — is impossible to ignore. For many, the creativity that came from Flash artists around the globe shaped the way internet humor and conversation of the time happened, guided how internet humor would evolve, and encouraged many

Amazing Frozen World Music! Arendelle for KH III?
This is NOT official music from Kingdom Hearts III and Frozen has NOT been confirmed for the game!
I'm pretty sure most of you have seen Disney's latest film, Frozen. If so, I'm also sure a majority of you are keeping your fingers crossed that Arendelle will be in Kingdom Hearts III. Because I sure am!
I had to share this amazing music that a fan made! It really sounds like music done by Yoko Shimomura (composer for the Kingdom Hearts series)! Give these a listen! I also took the liberty of giving a link with both songs mixed with sound effects of Sora, Donald, and Goofy fighting the Heartless! This will make you believe that Arendelle has

Sometimes people ask me why I have such issues with "Jake and the Neverland Pirates." Today, I finally figured it out.
It's not JUST that it's a down-talking, fourth-wall-breaking tedious Dora rip-off.
It's not JUST the awkward live-action pirate singers who remind me of Spongebob.
It's not JUST the fact that it breaks the book/movie canons at every turn.
It's not JUST the fact that they neuter Captain Hook, making him a child in an adult's body, neutralizing one of the greatest antagonists in children's literature.
It's also the fact that that Jake and his friends are NOT pirates. They are Lost Boy Hipsters.
They do everything lost boy

The Witchas Multifaceted Icon
Throughout history artists of every discipline have been fascinated, inspired and transfixed at every historical stage of the shifting perceptions of the “Witch” in any given time or society. The seams within every page of every chapter written against or in defense of the witch have been alternatively filled with oppressive sexism, blind eyed religious bigotry, occult doctrine, fevered and forbidden lustful sexuality, misplaced fear, and reams of wide eyed superstition.
Consequently, the colors, and lines within every stroke upon every canvas and visceral de

The Fairy Tale, A Lifelong Resonance
A thousand years tradition of scaring children at bedtime continues for children of all ages. News of the discovery of 500 “new” fairy tales collected over 150 years ago [link] in Germany and locked away in a forgotten archive has me thinking about the enduring importance of these narrative treasures in the lives of human societies worldwide. My worry, have fairy tales been marginalized by modernism?

Ask any artist about “emptiness” and they’ll tell you about the constant recurring nightmarish emptiness they must face down almost every day as a part of their vocation: the blank space that they must fill. Whether he’s a painter facing a blank canvas or she’s a poet facing a blank computer screen, the blank space awaiting transformation at the hand of the artist can be the loneliest and cruelest place on earth.

DeviantART has been around for almost twelve years, and in that time, we've seen artists grow from hobbyists to students to professionals. As a member of any community, your identity can change and grow over time.

How It Works
Deviants can now change their username in their Settings. To change your username, you must have an active Premium Membership. (The reason there is a "fee" ass

The recently announced changes to the core mythos of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the backlash from fans over the ending to Mass Effect 3 have ignited an incredible discussion about the rapidly evolving “collaborative” relationship between producers and consumers of videogames, movies, and similar “products.” Now it’s exploded beyond the secure borders of top news publications, gaming and entertainment websites. Looks like this long-bubbling
